MAPMOPP/MARPOLMON Data Set

MAPMOPP/MARPOLMON data contain data of Oil Slicks, Tar Ball, Beach Tar and Hydrocarbon obtained through Pilot Project on Marine Pollution (Petroleum) Monitoring (MAPMOPP) which had been conducted from 1975 to 1980 under the framework of Integrated Global Ocean Station System (IGOSS) by IOC and WMO in response to a recommendation of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment (Stockholm, 1972).

This data set also includes data of those parameters collected through Marine Pollution Monitoring System (MARPOLMON-P) of Global Investigation of Pollution in the Marine Environment (GIPME) which had been established by IOC in 1980 succeeding to MAPMOPP.

JODC had a responsibility to manage the data of MAPMOPP/MARPOLMON internationally as Responsible National Oceanographic Data Center (RNODC) for MARPOLMON in cooperation with US-NODC.

Data format of this data set was developed patterned after the IGOSS SYNDARC format. Details of the data format are shown at each data type below.

Please note that this data set has not been updated for long years after the project when you use the data set.
