MARPOLMON Data

This file contains Oil Slick, Tar Ball, Beach Tar and Hydrocarbon collected by IOC Marine Pollution Monitoring Programme (MARPOLMON) which was implemented in 1980 after taking over Marine Pollution Monitoring Pilot Programme (MAPMOPP, 1975 to 1980) to monitor marine pollution spreading in parts of oceans on a global scale and to evaluate pollution problems in marine environment. Samples may have been collected near marine discharge sites or during monitoring surveys of large ocean areas. JODC was one of RNODC for MARPOLMON for the WESTPAC region.
