[Go to Japanese Page]

The Study of Earth Observation Database Systems are initiated by the Science and Technology Agency (STA) from FY 1994 to FY 1999 as a part of the IMnet (Inter Ministerial networks = A big part of the Japanese Governmental Internet System supported by STA) research project.

It involve in 7 Japanese Governments research institutes (MRI-JMA, JODC-MOT, SRI-MOT, CRL-MPT, CRL/Hiraiso-MPT, GSI-MC, BRI-MC ), and NASDA, MRI Inc. and STA (Government) itself. The main purpose of this study is how to set up Earth observation data into database system on the IMnet in each specific data in each research institutes and how to make up useful for researchers and open to the public.
