The work plan of GODAR-WESTPAC is available as a pdf file;Work Plan for the GODAR type project in the WESTPAC region (110KB)

Data Collecting & Processing

Data Types

The project will focus on the data types that are exchanged routinely within the IODE system, especially focusing on the following data and any additional data collected at the time of observation:

*         Hydrographic casts including all chemical and biological observations,

*         CTD casts,

*         Expendable Bathythermograph casts,

*         Mechanical Bathythermograph casts

How to Collect

If you have some marine research data which are able to contribute to GODAR-WESTPAC, please inform us the information on your data with FORM1 ( PDF / Word ) to the Project Office directly or thought the nearby Contact Point.

Data Processing

We will process the data contributed by the researcher or organization with the cooperation among the data centers or research institutes participated in GODAR-WESTPAC in order to make to be available for every user through the IODE system.

Data Inventory

The information of the data, what kind of data collected through GODAR-WESTPAC and their availability will introduce from the project webpage.

Data Policy

The data gathered by the project will be made available to users according to the IODE data policy, "Full and Open Sharing".

Marine Research Resources

In order to advance the project, it is required to share the information on the situation of oceanographic research in this region.  From this point of view, the project is collecting the following information related to marine research activities. The collected information will be available on the project web site.

*         Information on Oceanographic Research Organizations (Form 2)

Names and addresses of oceanographic research organizations, outlines of their activities, etc.

*         Ocean Research Vessels (Form 3)

Information on ocean research vessels owned or operated by oceanographic research organizations.

*         Regular Observation Lines (Form 4)

Information on oceanographic regular observation lines on which oceanographic research organizations carry out observations routinely by the research vessels.

*         Oceanographic Observation Stations (Form 5)

Information on oceanographic observation stations installed by oceanographic research organizations (e.g. tide observation stations, monitoring buoys, observation towers, etc.).

The digital forms of each questionnaire are available from the project web page.  Your cooperation in this regard will be very much appreciated.

Organization

Steering Group

The project has established the steering group to evaluate the progress of the project, review and update the work plan as necessary, and advise the Project Office for the project implementation.  The steering group has consisted of the IODE coordinators from the region, and from agencies participating in the project.

Project Office

The Project Office has been located at Japan Oceanographic Data Centre.

In general the Project Office coordinates project activities, implements the work plan, and enhances project communication as advised by the Steering Group.
