Objectives

The objective of the cruise is to clarify chemical and physical characteristics of the Japan Sea water in order to understand their spatio-temporal variations in detail. In particular, the following three themes were persued during this cruise.

1. Measurements of the concentration of major and minor chemical constituents including stable isotopes of light elements by using seawater and particulate samples taken by CTD hydrocasts and in situ filtration.

2. Measurements of trace radioactive nuclides using seawaters taken by large volume water sampling.

3. Observation of fine structures of deep seawater using detailed CTD observational data.
