Processing Procedure
This data set, includes JGOFS North Pacific
Process Study (NPPS) and related studies, was generated with the aim
of study on Ocean Biogeochemistry in the North Pacific region and to make
available to the public for free.
The data set was published by Japan
Oceanographic Data Center with the advice of the National Committee for JGOFS under the Japan Science Council.
The policy of the data
set is fully opened
to the public, includes usage for commercial purpose. However the user of the data set is requested
to make an acknowledgement for this data set or the respective researchers, in
the case they are identified, in the users products if their product is opened
to public.

Collected Data
Following the advice
of National Committee for JGOFS under the Japan Science Council, North Pacific
Synthesis Group of JGOFS and concerned, the data are expected to help in the
study on Ocean Biogeochemistry in the North Pacific region. The parameters were
collected according to the definition of the protocols for the JGOFS core
measurements. However, this data set
does not include CTD alone or hydrocast data which is
collected without chlorophyll-a or carbon
parameters. Some data obtained before
the observation phase of JGOFS NPPS was also included.
For further
information on data sets, user is advised to refer the data folder in this dataset.

Meta Data
Meta data is important
information to estimate the quality of the data for chemical or biological
oceanographic parameters.
Proposed General Metadata Requirements
was prepared for compilation of the dataset based on the discussions of Working
Group for Inventory of Japan Chemical Oceanography Data and PICES Working Group
13.
The Meta data field in
the dataset was left as a blank field, if it is found difficult to prepare.
3.
Data Processing
All collected data was
standardized its format by data type or observation method. All data formats are able to read and process
by general spread sheet software or data visualize software, Ocean
Data View, developed by Alfred Wegener
Institute for Polar and Marine Research, Germany. User is advised to refer Description of the data format for the JGOFS North Pacific Process
Study Dataset located at the library folder for information on data
format description.
All data were
subjected to basic data quality check procedures such as Land Check, Speed
Check and Range Check etc, and was added a Flag code given by QC procedures.
The further
information on the data processing for the dataset was described in a document
